The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug trailer

Looks interesting, but like the first installment, has some significant departures from the book, as well as wholesale changes.  Among them are Legolas, who does not appear until The Fellowship of the Ring, and his elvish girlfriend who never existed in the books. I can live with that as the film tries to expand the backstory.  But the apparent changes to the character of Bard are disappointing.  Bard is completely unrecognizable from the character I remember in the novel, particularly this apparent hostility toward the Thorin and the dwarves that is portrayed.  Worst of all, however, is more of the albino orc from the first movie who wasn't in the book, whose presence serves no purpose, and who, along with his fellow orcs and goblins, is rendered in poor, and distractingly obvious CGI.  The visuals appear otherwise fantastic, but I don't have high hopes.
