"Son of Promise, Child of Hope"
Looking for a great Christmas present for your kids? I found these two gems last week in the children's book section at Target. Not bad for a president-elect who has yet to do anything. Look, I realize he's the first African-American president. I understand the historical significance. I get that people are excited and I'm glad for everyone that voted for him, but don't you think we need to get a grip? With the way people are fawning over the man, I half expect guests to bring incense and myrrh to his inauguration.

With all the joking from the right about his being "the messiah", you'd think they would avoiding subtitling a book in his honor "son of promise, child of hope..." during the Christmas season...
I have no gift to bring. Pah rum pum pum pum. Barack you aren't my king pah rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum.

I saw those a couple of weeks ago... Costco has a different one too. Pretty sickening really how much they are glorifying this guy. I haven't really paid much attention to politics until the past couple of years, does this kind of stuff happen with all "president-elects"???
I think things like this are only barometers, or the temperature of our country! I get the same reading of temperature when thousands/millions care about what celebrity is doing what, or when those in the sports world do the same kind of praising of a team or player. I think this only means that we have much work to do, cause there are people out there that are looking for promise, and hope. A old song comes to mind when I witness this reaction. "I've been looking for love in too many places...looking for love in all the wrong places". So just for encouragement sake, don't let things like this shake your head! Recognize it for what it is and get busy doing what Christ commissioned us to do...giving the good news, the hope, the promise to those who are clearly searching for it.
In Son of Promise, Child of Hope do we get to see his true origin. I feel like he's kind of like Wolverine in this respect because we've seen bits and pieces that often contradict one another, but we've never gotten the full story. Maybe this book is an attempt at retconning a president. Crisis on Infinite Earths indeed.
