Deleted Opening Scene From Superman Returns

I'm generally not a fan of special edition movies with deleted scenes plugged in.  The Lord of the Rings had some cool scenes that were added to its extended editions. Fanboys loved them, but the added cuts just made the movies longer and clunkier without really adding much the films themselves.  In the case of Superman Returns, this deleted opening sequence adds a great deal to the movie by giving some needed detail and context to his departure and return to Earth.  It also gives weight to a major plot point that is only afforded passing mention in the rest of the film.
