Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance trailer
Ghost Rider is a very cool comic book character, but most people of sound mind would agree the first movie was somewhere between not good and just another Nicolas Cage movie. Which begs the question, how bad does a movie have to be nowadays for the producers to say, "There's just no way we can make a sequel."? And judging by the trailer, the filmmakers have not learned their lesson.

Okay, so Marvel can just up and say, "well, you know those three Spiderman movies? Never happened. And that first Hulk movie? Nope, didn't happen either."
But that steaming turd Ghost Rider with Nicholas Cage? Oh yeah, no way we're gonna retcon that. It was awesome.
Bullcrap.
Now, I'll be the first to say that if it had an actor other than Nicholas Cage, I'd probably be a fan of this movie. I always liked Ghost Rider in the comics. The movie isn't the worst Marvel movie ever made (Howard the Duck wins out there) or even the worst in the past decade (that would be a dead tie between Daredevil and Elektra). But I cannot stand Nicholas Cage. He is a total crap actor and has been in some of the worst movies EVAR. And could he just admit that, along with the rest of us, he's going bald?
And just what the heck is Ghost Rider doing out in broad daylight? Ghost Rider is a character that is way more effective visually when he's out at night.
The actual Ghost Rider effects look good. But I still just can't get over that stumbling block that is Nicholas Cage.
And just what the hell is supposed to be going on in that last shot in the trailer? Pissing fire? Really? Get on your bike, flameface, and tear ass on down to the county health department and get a free pennicillin shot.

Haha. Clearly, Ghost Rider is series whose quality merits a longstanding commitment.
Watching this, I found myself wondering if Johnny Blaze or the Ghost Rider more accurately portray Nic Cage's hairline.
Ghost Rider's an awesome concept, and the first movie wasn't horrible. It's just too bad they can't do this better, without the cheese. That ending clearly communicates "We aren' taking this seriously."
